Gods of Cincinnati 2019-2022
Matt Lynch and Curtis Goldstein
Formica laminate on wood panel
Branch Restaurant, East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati
The triptych Gods of Cincinnati follows in a long tradition of using images of ancient deities to symbolize civic attributes. Each panel represents one of three things Cincinnati is most famous for: beer, represented by the Titan Atlas, pork, by Diana, Goddess of the Hunt, and soap products by Venus, Goddess of Love. Cincinnati residents posed for the figures depicted in each panel.
