Rumpke is a family owned waste and recycling company begun in 1932 and headquartered in Colerain Township that serves Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. The St. Bernard single-stream recycling fa-cility processes an average of 625 tons of material a day.
Featured in this mosaic is Rumpke Recycling’s $34 million St. Bernard/Elmwood Place facility, which reopened in 2013 after it was destroyed by a fire in April 2012. Depicted in the mosaic is the large bailer and shipping floor where a team of forklift operators maneuver elegantly and efficiently around each other as they load bails onto railroad shipping, mainly head-ed for Chinese factories. Pictured in the mosaic are Billy DeLaughter, Carroll Weider, David Oldigies, and Roy Fugate.
